Serum:

  • Serum Separator Tube or red top tube, 5-10 mL preferred, 0.5 mL minimum sample volume

  • Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection

Rejection Criteria: 

  • Highly lipemic, icteric or hemolyzed specimens

  • Weakly lipemic, icteric, or hemolyzed samples may be run and reported with a disclaimer based on client request

  • Heat inactivated specimens

  • Inappropriate specimen type

Storage, Stability & Shipping

Storage & Stability: 

  • Room temperature = 3 days 

  • 2-8 ºC = 7 days 

  • -15 to -25 ºC = samples in long-term storage
